Complete Badakari

Similar to the dashiki worn by males in Ghana, this smock is a plaid shirt. It is also available in feminine forms. The smock may also be referred as as Bun-nw or Bana by Mamprusis, fugu or a batakari in the northern region, dansika in Frafra, or fugu or Banaa in Kusaal, both in the upper east. In the three northern regions, where it is worn by the kings, it has grown in popularity. The smock, which is similar to Burkina Faso's national dress known as faso dan fadi, originates in Ghana's three northern regions.

Ghana's national attire is made up of a smock and a Kente cloth. Smocks and Kente fabric both have their roots in the northern and southern regions of Ghana, respectively.
